Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from March of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a close final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
