Why this DNC is Hiding their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: An Analysis.

The move from the DNC to withhold the release of its own autopsy report concerning the 2024 election appears shocking yet entirely predictable. Averse to unpleasant candor, the Democrats' governing body often functions more like a PR firm than an electoral entity devoted to building grassroots capacities capable of prevailing at the polls.

A Climate That Avoids Dissent

Unwilling to challenge the prevailing attitude of conformity, the committee has continued within the Biden-Harris shadow all through 2025. Publishing such a report might have shown that party leaders are interested to promote public discourse about the strategic failures which allowed Donald Trump to become president again. However, the leadership is moving forward as if there is little to understand from the stunning loss from the last cycle.

"Here’s our North Star: is this good for winning elections? If the answer is no, it is an unnecessary diversion from our fundamental goal," a justification that has been offered for withholding the document.

Key Issues an Analysis Could Have Examined

An autopsy report of substance would not dodge key points of failure. These include:

  • Voter Disenchantment: The loss of a significant portion of the electorate that backed the party's candidate in 2020 proved pivotal in the close 2024 election.
  • The Decision to Seek Re-election: The determined choice by a party leader to run again, alongside a very late withdrawal, is viewed as robbing the party's base the chance for open primaries.
  • Losing Touch With the Working-Class Base: During a time of inflation, the electoral effort reportedly ceding to corporate donors' interests while failing to address the effects of profit-seeking.
  • A Gaza Factor: The refusal to reconsider an approach on the situation in Gaza is cited as driving away key demographic groups, particularly among young people, Arab-Americans, and Muslim Americans.
  • Eroding Young Voter Backing: Extensive evidence demonstrates a significant decrease in Democratic support from voters aged 18-29.

A Record Shunning Scrutiny

The decision to withhold is consistent with a pattern to avoid hard truths. This mirrors a situation where the vast majority of elected Democrat in Washington supported an incumbent's insistence on running for re-election until a poor campaign event forced an exit.

At the same time, a significant majority within the party's base were consistently telling pollsters of their opposition to that candidate to be the nominee.

Financial Questions

A substantive autopsy would also investigate questions about financial allocations, such as what sums were directed to insider consultants as well as media firms over the course of a campaign which expended an enormous amount during the general election.

A Broader Implication

Fundamentally, the blockage regarding the analysis is symptomatic of a deference toward party leaders who engineered a losing national race. The implication for rank-and-file members – including countless loyal volunteers – is that they do not be trusted to know what party chiefs have learned from an analysis based on conversations with insiders.

A political entity unable to honestly assess where it went wrong will struggle to climb out of the pattern which was so advantageous to the winning candidate.
